Is a very large bird. The length from the mouth edge to the tail edge is approximately 102 to 245 centimeters. Both male and female have the yellow crown like the brush on their heads which differs from that of Indian Peafowl that looks like the fan. Its head and neck have the short hair with bluish green. The face is blue, black, and yellow. The hair on its neck, chest, and the middle of the back is glossy blue surrounded by green and copper. The male of green peafowl has several long feathers covering the tail and there is the wishbone flower in the middle of the tail tip. The middle of the flower is blackish blue in the glossy green circle surrounded by the copper oval. When the peafowl spreads the tail, it will be the very large colorful and beautiful fan. The female ofthe peafowl has smaller size than the male and has smaller spur. The female's feathers has the reddish brown color wavy blended.
The Peafowl spreads the gene in Assam State, the southwest of China, Southeast Asia, and Java Island. In Thailand, it can be found in the North and the West. Historically it has been reported to occur in a wide variety of habitats, including a range of primary and secondary, tropical and subtropical, evergreen and deciduous forest-types, mixed coniferous forest, swamp forest, open woodland, forest edge, bamboo, grasslands, savannas, scrub and farmland edge, from sea-level to at least 2,100 m. Contemporary records are mostly limited to dry deciduous forests, with the highest densities occurring near undisturbed rivers and wetlands (Brickle 2002); access to water and human disturbance have a strong influence on the species's abundance and distribution (Brickle 2002, J. C. Eames in litt. 2004). It has been hypothesized that the species favours open deciduous forest as it may allow large clutches to be laid to coincide with a seasonal flush of fallen fruit (Brickle 2002).
The Peafowl eats both plant and animal which are grass seed, the seed of tree, the grain, ripped fruit, insect, worm, earthworm, snake, and small animals.
The Peafowl lives in the general forest at the height of not exceeding I ,000 meters from the sea level. It can be found in a small troop. After the breeding season, we can find only the female and the chick. It seeks for the food in the morning and in the afternoon near the edge of the forest and near the rill. At night, it normally clings and sleeps on the high branch.

SPECIES : Green Peafowl, Green-necked Peafowl (Pavo muticus)
Conservation status : Endangered
The courting of peafowl starts when the female seeks for the food in the area of the male. The males will join in seeking for the food in a troop and spreading the tail feathers. It stretches both wings to support the body, raises its neck, walks and turns around the female. The tail feathers spreading will take approximately 5 to 10 minutes. If the female is ready to breed, it will crouch for breeding with the male. The peafowl builds the nest on the ground in the plain or near the plant clump. It may use grass or dry leaves to support the nest. It lays 3 to 6 eggs each time. It starts incubating the eggs after laying the last egg. The incubation period is 26 to 28 days. The newborn chick has fluffy hair covering the body. It can stand and walk following its mother to seek for the food immediately after its feathers dry. The chick will follow its mother to seek for the food not less than 6 months and it will then seek for the food alone after that.
