Hinged plastron that can only partly close in the front. Head brown, reddish-brown, or olive sometimes with black sports on the top of the head, and sometimes with yellow or pink stripes on the side of the face. Plastron plae is entirely dark brown or black. Curved seam between femoral and anal scutes, and hinged plastron distinguishes. Carapace to 22 cm.
Mainly aquatic. Streams in lowland hill forests.
Omnivorous. Fruit, vegetation, small crabs and other aquatic invertebrates.
Near Threatened
Lay 10-16 eggs.
