Banded Langur (Presbytis femoralis)

Interesting :

Banded langur has various types of body color ranging from black to dark-brown and light brown. Sometimes, banded langur is found white in color. The lower partof its body is normally slightly lighter than the upper part. A banded langur may have white color at its breast. The inner side of its legs is distinctively white in color, from inner of top of thigh to knee or to ankle for some of them. The color of the lower part of its tail is lighter than the upper part. The border of upper and lower lip is white in color. however, the white marking spot around its eyes is not as distinct as that of dusky langur. Its hair is like a crest, which is set like a tuft. The color of backbone and shoulder side of newborn is darker than other parts.

Habitat :

It is found in Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra, and Borneo. In Thailand, it is found around Tanao Sri Mountain Range and Southern part. It is used to find mostly in Trang, Krabi, Phang Nga, and Surat Thani.

Food :

It eat leafs, fruits, and insects.

Behavior :

It is normally found in forests or mangrove forests and lowland mangrove forest. It stays in rubber plantation and likes to eats rice in nearby paddy fields. It likes to stay in a small group of 5-6 banded langur. It is hardly found to be alone.

Near Threatened

Reproductive :

There is no report about mating behavior of banded langur. It is believed to be the same as that of other langurs.
